Underwater hull
The condition of the underwater hull is crucial to the performance of a ship.

Effective anti-corrosives and efficient antifouling are essential to keep costs down. A fouled hull results in a significant increase of power/fuel consumption if the vessel needs to maintain speed.

A premium coating system installed at the newbuilding stage will minimise deterioration and provide the foundation for a well-planned maintenance scheme through the following dry dockings.

SigmaKalon has three key antifouling ranges:

SigmaGlide - biocide-free antifouling (no environmental damage); low surface energy elastomeric silicone system produces a slippery hull surface that causes fouling to detach as the vessel moves.

Sigma AlphaGen – tin-free hydrolysing, self-polishing and self-smoothing antifouling - versions for deep-sea and coastal vessels - up to 5 year of service life

Sigma EcoFleet – tin-free, self-polishing and self-smoothing antifouling – versions for deep-sea and coastal vessels – up to 5 years of service life

Below is a selection of Sigma Marine Coatings product ranges that are ideal for the protection of underwater hulls:
